While some motion capture was done, the special effects left the human characters less so— feeling virtually cold and unappealing and the monsters had such ferocity and savagery making them the centerpiece of the movie.

There is tons of blood and gore— which makes one shudder but the bloodless humans despite amazing actors on board render it just too unattractive of a movie.

f you like special effects and CGI is your thing, this movie is ideal— and get the director’s cut because it has *everything* your heart (or sword) could desire in terms of information that you would want to see in special featurettes.
