Winner of the NYC Rising Star Award and a top NYC mixologist, Orson Salicetti has created a cocktail that will revive your spirits and open your heart to spring– much like the blooming of flowers
“Spring is the season for honey, the flowers begin to bloom and the bees begin to pollinate. I thought adding a special touch of honey liquor would be the perfect way to welcome this season.” – Orson Salicetti

First Sign of Spring
Mixologist Orson Salicetti of Apothéke – New York, NY
INGREDIENTS
Infused Simple Syrup (makes 1 pint):
2 cups water
1 cup sugar
1 stick cinnamon
1 teaspoon whole cloves
2 dried chipotle peppers
Agave Lime Syrup (makes 1 pint):
1 cup lime juice
1 cup agave nectar
To Assemble and Serve:
2 ounces cachaça
1/4 ounce amaro
1/4 ounce Jacopo Poli Miele honey liqueur
1 splash agave lime syrup
1 splash fresh lemon juice
1 sprig fresh marjoram
METHOD
For the Infused Simple Syrup:
Combine water, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and peppers. Bring to a boil and chill. (easy– just do it)
For the Agave Lime Syrup:
Combine lime juice and agave nectar. (Find agave nectar in Whole Foods or Trader Joes)
To Assemble and Serve:
In a shaker, combine cachaça, amaro, honey liqueur, ¼ ounce infused simple syrup, and ice. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. Top with lemon juice and lime syrup. Garnish with marjoram.
This seems rather complex but the simple syrup and the agave lime syrup will keep for other purpose (think of it as basics for other cocktails!)..
The rest is pure pouring and mixing!
Enjoy the first taste of spring in a glass.
