The best part about visiting Hawaii-- and especially Kauai is that it's surrounded by water and it's gorgeous from all aspects. From placid seas that allow you to snorkle without issue to others with great waves for surfing to other areas where no swimmer should go because the ocean reigns supreme and challenges anyone who chooses to take it on.
In this video, you see a clip of the ferocious surf at the southern most point of Poipu and Kauai as an island. Also there's a bit of information about the Sugarcane Workers Monument that was established in Koloa in 1964, that I had never seen before. This historical town is a "must see" for the friendliness of the people as well as great places to shop-- Island Soap and Candle Works store (one of 3 locations on the island )

and eat: Pizzetta ( part of a chain of 3 restaurants -- one in Washington and one on Melrose in West Hollywood, Ca, called TASTE.)

Little did I know that I would find my own haunt follow me to Kauai). Their Kalua Pig and Cheese Calzone was good but the Hot Crab & Artichoke Dip was awesome

-- as was the Lillikoi Cosmo (lillikoi = passionfruit) That was a fun, tasty cocktail and if you can score some passionfruit nectar definitely use a mango-infused vodka to make this drink a great tropical treat. Also great to test is the store within a store concept of a gelatto vendor with amazing treats of sorbetto and

The great point of this restaurant is that it's the haunt of local residents who love the laid back ambiance and feel and we were just part of the scenery.

The videos and photos that will be seen once a day on this blog for the next few days will be all about the places to go, things to see and experience (food, cocktails, shopping as well as tourist -- and not so touristy-- spots)

My ambition had been originally to post twice a day-- but this is a vacation as well as business trip and I want to be able to get around the island to share this experience with you. of which today was awesome. While I do that, I don't want to be up till midnight repeatedly editing photos and videos. So just know that I am checking out the sites and hitting interesting spots and finding great places for you to check out even if it means hitting Walmart for island-style jewelry for less. (Really! Who would have thought that would be the case, but we needed beach chairs and while shopping there, we found great jewelry for under $10!)
