Paris Hilton and Carrie Underwood Get Reviewed in Michaela's Celebrity Style Slam

Michaela Jedinak , UK Stylist, and co-creator of the Celebrity Style Slam gives us her evaluation of style or fashion sense worn by various celebrities at the Golden Globes and other similar celebrity award/style events! Michaela comments regularly on a variety of current celebrities at events or about town and how their style chalks up in her typical "call them as she sees them" manner.
Michaela has covered celebrity styles for LA-Story.com for the Academy Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, Grammys, SAG Awards red carpet reviews and the Gucci/Madonna Party at NYFW!) . Check out her site: www.joyofcolour.com

Celebrities Reviewed: Paris Hilton and Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood

carrrie-underwood.jpg

COLOR:
The pastel shiny apricot colour is ok for her colouring since she is wearing a deep neckline and the shiny fabric picks up on her very blond highlights and super white teeth.

BODYSHAPE:
The straps of her dress give way to a nice neck and décolleté line. Her bustline is just about at borderline from starting to look a bit too much. Though she is long-waisted, the dress lacks a definition of a waist. The horizontal waist and hip details look odd since they are highlighting her straightness and not embracing the soft curves of a waist.

She gets away with the pleats under her bust but not with the ones below. It i is adding bulk and volume to an area that results in too much "tummy". The lower horizontal line creates a dropped waistline that sits at her fullest part. The pleats that flare out below aren't doing her any favours since it makes her look larger there in proportion to her top.

STYLE:
Her hemline is too long. It seems amiss to have your neckline ultra-low and your hemline ultra-long. It reminds one of the 80's soap looks down to the hairstyle and handbag. It is kept all shiny and matchy-matchy!

Overall Rating
: 2** Two Stars

Paris Hilton

COLOR:

The colour combination works well on her colouring and complements her hair and groomed appearance.

BODYSHAPE:
The shape of the dress works well on her lean, neat hourglass body, but there is nothing else right about this choice of outfit. She is young, pretty and has a great body-- but not young enough that she can get away wearing this style of dress at a red carpet event. Her face doesn't fit the feel and look of the dress; it just highlights that she passed her teenager times and makes the look aging.

It would have been much better to wear this dress with patent or "motorcycle-type tights" paired with big golden Creole earrings (modeled on Olivia Newton John in the film: Grease, but a bit more style-current). That kind of styling would have turned her into a real --believable-- "rock chic". Using Paris' own words:" the look would have been hot".

STYLE:
The shoes are not working. They are far too matchy and too elegant in style. Similar story with her clutch handbag. A better choice would have been a chunky fringe bag to pair with the look described earlier. It's much of rocker chick than this look. This one reminds me of going to a pool party in the Caribbean . It all looks very fake, plastic ....and utterly wrong.

Oveall Rating: 1* One Star
