Celebrity Style Slam: Jill Kirsh Weighs In on the Color of the Moment: Debra Messing vs Holly Hunter!

We are lucky to have Jill Kirsh of Jill Kirsh Color join us in reviewing some of the Emmy looks. Jill Kirsh has been featured on this blog a couple of times about the way to use color to best display your features. Choose the wrong color and you suddenly look like death. Choose the right color and you are glowing.

It was an interesting Emmys night and one of the most interesting things was the appearance of color in the dresses worn by women. Yes, there was a fair amount of soft colors and black, but pops of brights and metallic were hot on the red carpet. As part of the Emmy round-up, Jill Kirsh and I reviewed some interesting celebrities and what they wore.

Celebrity Style Slam: Holly Hunter vs Debra Messing

Debra Messing:

Jill Kirsh:

She's spectacular. She pulled the right red which is a warmer orange-red that really works her hair and her complexion. The make-up nailed it. Even her earrings look amazing and she looks sensational. This is a case where the dress and the celebrity are rockin' it. Nothing is fragrmented and nothing is wrong. Everything is right and in sync. Messing "owns" the look; it doesn't wear her, she wears it. Messing deserves a page by herself.

LA-Story.com:

I think that Messing is a show-stopper in the dress. Her hair-style is neat, sexy and polished and allows her face (with glorious make-up) and fab earrings to show off her best features-- which are her eyes. Dress fits perfectly and it skims her body beautifully. I think the entire look works perfectly and she is a stunner.

Holly Hunter

Jill Kirsh:

I love Holly Hunter. This is a case where the dress and the celeb don't work well together. Her hair is warm blonde-- a real golden blonde. She has a long mane of hair and work it. Hunter is not working it when she wears a silvery-hued dress. The dress draws the eye away from Hunter's face and it's "off". It doesn't work together and therefore Hunter doesn't look as great as she could.

LA-Story.com.

I love Holly Hunter, I love her show, I like her dress-- but not on her. The dress is wearing her, not her wearing it. it fits well but the color just doesn't work. Where are her accessories? Where's the bag? Someone forget jewelry? What's going here? Why not do her hair with more orignality? This is a case of a little "Saving Grace" would have helped out her red carpet look a great deal.

Stay tuned for more from Jill Kirsch and www.JillKirshColor.com as we review some of the Emmy looks from the women who walked the red carpet.
