Going Green: Changing Your DryCleaning Habits with Green Garmento!

Going green isn't always the easiest thing and the last thing you might be thinking about is your dry-cleaning. After all, it goes to the cleaners and you leave the various suits, shirts and silk dresses and figure that it's up to the dry cleaners to give it back to you in pristine condition-- and they do. Many have switched over to the more expensive but environmental friendly equipment so that's not the problem. The one element left that isn't recyclable or good for the environment is that plastic bag that encases your clothing.

Here's what's wrong:
1) it's not recycleable
2) leave your clothing hanging in it too long and the chemicals used in dry cleaning your precious items start to destroy the fabric of said garments.
3) even if you remove the plastic and toss it in the trash, you aren't doing anything about it.

Finally there is something you can do -- and that's definitely a chic, smart, affordable way to deal with dry cleaning through collecting it, carrying it into the dry cleaners and then retrieving it.

The Green Garmento is an eco-friendly 3-in-1 reusable garment bag that can help you green your dry-cleaning routine. At home, it serves as a hanging hamper, on your trip to the drycleaner it functions as a duffel bag and at pick-up, your dry-cleaned clothes will be hanging and protected inside your Green Garmento for the trip home.

The simple step of switching to The Green Garmento will help reduce the estimated 300 million pounds of single-use drycleaning bags that continue to clog our landfills and kill our marine and wildlife, annually.

The Green Garmento is made from breathable, water-resistant material, making it an eco-friendly, stylish, practical, and affordable alternative to single-use plastic garment bags.

I saw this at the is Debbie Durkin's Main Event Red Carpet Lounge & Green Suite at Oscars 2009 and I think it's a fabulous idea.
It makes sense because it's a storage bag for those things needing to go the cleaners, it carrries it all neatly there. It has a pocket for the tag and then you can carry it home in a re-useable bag. It also doubles for some carry-on luggage too. How easy can it be?
