A Scene from Coco Before Chanel

This “rave review” film depicts how Coco Chanel became a designer and the inspiration behind her revolutionary fashion designs that created a style that is a benchmark in fashion history and is emulated by many women today. When Coco began her life in fashion and design as a hatmaker. She was a proponent of “being modern”— keeping designs simple and elegant. The movie is an a must see for fashionistas and still would be interesting to others because of the amazing performance by Audrey Tatou as Coco Chanel.

In the movie, Audrey Tautou wears truly stunning outfits that are sheer perfection in illustrating the Chanel style. In many scenes, Tatou wears ” to-die-for “pearls— often just basic strands that say a lot without being over the top. Think of “whisper” rather than “shout” and you get the core of her message. The essence of Chanel is a lot like the essential aspects of pearls: expensive without being gaudy, a gorgeous simplicity of jewels that can be worn with with ballgowns, cocktail dresses and pants and a tee. Just like Chanel, pearls are for ladies who appreciate haute couture. Chanel still features pearls in the jewelry collection: classic pieces exist right next to more contemporary and absolutely amazing pearl designs.

While Coco Before Chanel might have you craving pearls, an expert recessionista might want to find something a little more affordable than the high end jewelry collection from Chanel. Looking for more affordable options, you might want to visit the Pearls In Style collection from ShopNBC.com and shop a selection of delecious pearl jewelry both classic and contemporary enough to make Coco proud.
