What to Gift: Suggestions from Beauty Icons & Fashionistas!! Here's the Best of the Gifts to Give from Vogue.tv!!

Christmas in this type of economy makes it even harder to shop-- because you want to get the perfect gift but not have it burn a hole in the credit card. If you are running out of ideas, here are two perfect go-to girls to ask for help.
If you are looking for last minute gift ideas , Vogue.TV's Trend Watch turns to beauty executive Olivia Chantecaille and New York Socialite Jennifer Creel for their list of favorite things:

Olivia Chantacaille:

FOR MOM:
Who wouldn't love to receive a piece of statement jewelry including House of Lavande vintage bracelets or a Faraone Mennella amethyst ring? "Jewel tones are so wonderful for the holiday season," says Olivia.

** Maybe you can't afford those labels, but you can afford some interesting jewelry from Overstock.com or even some surprisingly great pieces from Avon.com!

Avon's Kenneth Lane Statement Necklace-- a mere $40.00 for a great statement piece!

To keep warm from winter's chill, Olivia likes the Odessa Jacket by Moncler, great for stylish moms who are out and about.

FOR SISTER:
The "Sally" handbag by ChloƩ is a chic handbag for fashion fanatics on the go!

** In case that's not in your budget, how about a bag that's really fun and won't break the bank., this faux ostrich clutch from Avon is ideal for holiday into spring.

FOR THE ART LOVER:-
The Assouline Vintage Art Crate is a great starter kit for someone who is just getting into the art world.
- When you can't give a work of art, consider the next best thing - an art book featuring an artist like Cecily Brown.

** if you can't find one to be sure about, an art book by Salvatore Principe is an excellent choice. His focal point is hearts and while his new one isn't out yet, it can be pre-ordered or you can buy something else of his currently available!

FOR YOUR HOLIDAY PARTY CIRCUIT:
- For a festive holiday party dress, try one from a leader in women's dresses, Oscar de la Renta shift in a bold color.

** While we love de la Renta, not everyone can afford him right now- even on sale. Instead you can check out a dress from Overstock.com's Connected Apparel in garnet or black.

FOR THE MAN IN YOUR LIFE:
- Brunello Cucinelli's cashmere down vest makes an easy transition from country to city life and is definitely the type of gift you'll be "borrowing" from that special someone.

** While the cashmere down vest sounds amazing, it's also a bit much for many and to get the most bang for your buck, better to put a sweater on the guy so when he hugs you, he hugs you in cashmere.

Jennifer Creel:

Jennifer Creel, a self-proclaimed last minute shopper, shares her favorite beauty, travel and home gift ideas:

FOR THE JETSETTER:
- The Vulcan Fibre Globe-Trotter's vanity case is the perfect holiday travel companion - "You can have jewelry in here as well as your makeup, things that you need right away and you want to have right at your side," says Jennifer.
- Pack your shoes in luxury with one of Bally's Annita Travel Bags, a great way to prevent broken heels and lost soles!
- Frette's Alexandra ruby ballet slippers are a lovely indulgence.
- Bobbi Brown's Luxe Makeup Brush Collection will help you keep all your makeup tools in one place when you're on the road.

If you are on a budget (and these days, most of us are), it's time to downsize the pricetag without downsizing the thought. While the LUXE Brush Collection is $650.00, you can give someone a gorgeous Copper Diamond Brush Set with case from Bobbi Brown for $65.00 that will go from kit to handbag!

FOR THE HOME:
Staying close to home this holiday season means a social calendar filled with holiday parties:
- Dazzle the hostess with the perfect gift idea, a Mrs. John L. Strong Goddess Box of stationary.
- Candles are always a favorite for men and women. Jennifer suggests Belle Fleur candles for their beautiful packaging and divine scent.
- Pratesi loungewear or a lush cashmere robe is a great way to stay cozy in your clothing this winter.

** There are always times when you want to stay home, but what do you do when you are home? If you know the host/hostess' taste in music, perhaps a CD by Jane Monheit or a burned CD of favorites (new and older) that might spark their time together. Perhaps they like something more that they can truly share-- which might be a DVD of a movie that they missed in theaters or that they loved on TV.
There are a couple of DVDs that can be purchased: a "his" and "her" set of dvds that shouldn't be too much to expend
Hunter Weeks and Josh Caldwell have 2 different documentaries that are sure to appeal to the male of the species: 10 Yards: Fantasy Football, the latest release from these award-winning documentay filmmakers (10 mph: Seattle to Boston where they travel to Boston on Segways) . Get both for $20.00 direct from the site.
Women might love the new Brendan James CD, The Day is Brave -- the next big pianist with meaningful lyrics. Think Billy Joel or Elton John for the new millenia and with meaningful lyrics that relfect his life and others.

For those who love quirky tv shows, there DVD sets out on Nip/Tuck, Brothers & Sisters, Eli Stone, NCIS, Dirty Sexy Money, The Tudors, and many more. Each set is pretty affordable and will keep anyone busy for about 8 hours straight!

FOR THE VANITY TRAY:
-- Olay Regenerist cream makes a wonderful Christmas stocking stuffer. This luxurious cream helps to regenerate shape, restore elasticity and hydrate the skin.
-- For the woman looking to try new fragrances, Jennifer recommends:
Calvin Klein Eternity
Calvin Klein Euphoria
Vera Wang Look
Kapsule by Karl Lagerfeld
an intriguing perfume trio with scents that include Floriental, Light and Woody.

Rather than go the department store route or even the high end specialty store like Neiman Marcus, let's try something a bit more unique and while the price point might be the same, the natural essences of Diptyque will make the scent last longer in the bottle and on the body.
PHILOEDTLXGdiptyque.jpg

Diptyque's Eau de Toilette in Philosykos is 1.7 spray for $88.00. However this fragrance is remincescent of a fig tree leaf and white cedar on a hot summer day in Greece. This scent is truly unisex and there are other scents that work in a cologne, room spray or candle presentation including Oyedo, L'eau de Hesperides, L;'eau de Neroli, and Lierre (the most unusual in my mind because it's the scent of ivy-- and the most universal as a personal scent, home fragrance or candle)
It's available at www,bigelowchemists.com and www.beautyhabit.com

While I love the ideas that Creel and Chantecaille put out there, as a savvy fashionista who is quite aware of the economy and the recession, offering up suggestions that are more affordable has always been my gig.

I stumbled accross your blog by using stumbleupon and love the design of the whole thing! I normally skip straight past blogs as I have over 20 in my RSS and dont even have time to read the ones that I have! I am started out as a blogger myself and always tried to keep the design simple like yours as I think it is crucial, if you can back it up with some lovely pics like yours! Keep up the nice work! Cheers!
