Detox Diet: Does It Work? LA Times Monica Corcoran Weighs In! LA-Story Finds MORE 411

Monica Corcoran of the LA Times wrote a couple weeks back about the current diet frenzy- Master Cleanse.

From Monica’s LA Times “All The Rage” blog
.” This 10-day fast in which you survive on fresh-squeezed lemon juice, cayenne pepper, maple syrup and water could be your salvation. “

Having heard of— in great detail— about this diet, I took a pass on trying it. Maple syrup and lemon juice mixed in with some spices— ummmm - sorry folks, I can’t stomach it. Literally, it’s enough to make me puke just thinking about it.

However there is another product out there that is reputed to duplicate the formula but eliminate the problem of drinking the mixture— instead you get to swallow it whole— as in a pill.

Great Earth Vitamins has a new spin on this detox diet — and one that’s perhaps a bit more palatable.

Lemonate is an alternative to the popular lemonade and maple syrup detox diet, and delivers the same results without the awful taste.

Containing lemon concentrate and other natural ingredients, this super supplement may improve metabolism, aid in preparation for weight loss programs and supports the body’s excretion of toxins in the kidneys. It has some links to Ayurvedic medicine and at least this one is easily swallowed rather than drinking a ton of stuff. Directions specify taking 2 tablets with water at least 30 minutes before eating at 3 times a day (or depending on how many meals you eat in a day). Note that they are recommending you eat during this detox regimen. You aren’t supposed to starve yourself. Found at GreatEarth.com and also in stores (see the online retail list), Lemonate is available in 60 tablet jars for 18.99.
Make sure you look at the ingredients in this product as well and check with your physician.

At least this one isn’t going to have you drinking maple syrup, lemon juice and water. *shudder*
