NYFW: MAC Gives LAMB A Sharp New Look. Nancy Lichtenstein Review!

From the catwalks of NYFW 2010, Nancy Lichtenstein gives you the beauty breakdown for Fall 2010 from the L.A.M.B show done by MAC Cosmetics,

One makeup look I saw a lot on the runways at New York Fashion Week was heavy eyeliner paired with deep plum lips. This look is not for everyone but if you have the guts to pull it off it will certainly get you attention. At L.A.M.B., Charlotte Tilbury for MAC created a version of it that she described as "1930's prostitute" (I see more than a little of Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver thrown in there as well):

For best effect in real life makeup like this should be paired with very simple hair and clothes, but a little drama can certainly brighten things up while we're waiting for spring to get here.

To create this look, Charlotte applied Face and Body foundation in tones that were slightly lighter than the models' skin tones, reminiscent of china dolls. She next created a very dramatic smoky cat's eye by blending and smudging Eye Kohl in Smolder and Fluid Line in Blacktrack, and covering them with Lip Treatment to add shine.
(Note from this look and others we're following that eye gloss is in again in a big way.)

To create the dramatic lip she outlined outside of the natural lip line with Lip Pencil in Burgundy and then filled it in with a mixture of Pro Lipmix in Crimson and Burgundy.

If you're balking because you're finding this look too street-walker and not enough street style, you can tone it down by concentrating on the smoky eye or the vampy lip instead of doing both at the same time, and tone the eyeliner down to normal dimensions.

Thank you to Nancy Lichtenstein for this breakdown. Don't let the look scare you on the charts. You can do this. Soften down the lips a tad.. maybe do a not so red, but go more burgundy and soften it up by using a lip brush. Also if you would rather keep the lip and soften the eyes, go grey, brown or aubergine. Love the look because it's definitely a fall look!!
