Keira Knightley Puts Together a KickA$$ PSA Video on Domestic Violence!!

Last week, Keira Knightley made headlines with her latest video. This video is a Public Service Announcement about domestic violence. It has raised a firestorm about the graphic violence of the video.

This 2 minute film shows Knightley beaten an abusive boyfriend after she returns from a day of filming. Made for the charity 'Women's Aid', was launched online and will be on television and theaters to highlight the seriousness of domestic violence. The short commercial is directed by Joe Wright, who worked with the actress on hit films 'Atonement' and 'Pride and Prejudice' is highly graphic in the violence depicted.

Here's the video for your viewing..

The isolation that a victim of domestic violence feels is what is depicted --by a fraction-- in this video. People who deal domestic violence- within the legal system-- as well as actual domestic abuse victims have lauded the video for the reality of the situation and how isolated the victims become. It's not just a crime by ethnic groups, it's not just by demographics either limited to blue collar groups. Domestic violence occurs across all strata-- no matter your race, economic situation or gender-- there is domestic violence occuring. People need to take a stand and create serious legislation about this crime-- because it IS a crime. Child abuse is a crime-- make the penalties for domestic abuse equally harsh.
