Declan Joyce is an actor who might not have the "name recognition" on the major radar but he's been in a slew of movies. The one he talks about in this video interview is actually the one that's featured on the jump page-- and the "No Bad Days" title has been changed to "Lost Treasure of the Maya". Check IMBD.com and find that the cast is exactly the same as what's listed on Amazon.com-- only unfortunately- it's going directly to DVD. However- given the current crop of blockbusters in theaters-- this might be a blessing in disguise because more people will see it.

Declan Joyce caught my interest because he's very willing to talk about acting, what he's doing, where he's going and the life that came before acting-- which is a very unique tale on it's own. I have 4 videos on this man and each will share an aspect of him--- and perhaps a bit about me because we do get a bit chatty in the last video- and that's yet to come.

The only review I find on the Lost Treasure of the Maya which is rather a bit of Indiana Jones meets Apocalyto --with a bit of National Secrets tossed in for good measure only on foreign soil is from www.homemediamagazine.com and it's pretty much tells the tale. It's a sleeper of a movie with good solid actors and worth seeing. Written by Angelique Flores , here's her take on this movie that drops on 12/8!

Lost Treasure of the Maya opens similarly to Apocalypto. It's 1240 A.D. in the Yucatan Peninsula. A Mayan man has hidden a mask in an underwater cave before he is killed by men from another tribe.

Fast forward to present day. Three American archeologists with the help of some locals are looking to recover the sacred mask. The three archeologists go missing, and Alexis, whose sister is among the archeologists, heads to the Yucatan to find her sister. She's pointed in the direction of Nico (Protasio), an attractive local who spends most of his time living a life of leisure and occasionally offers private investigative services. Newcomer Protasio, who co-wrote and executive produced the film, shines as the lazy but lovable Nico.

Immediately seeing the danger Alexis could get herself into, he tries to persuade her to go home. But she's stubborn and naïve, and she continues her search. Reluctantly, Nico joins her in order to keep her safe from the wealthy and dangerous Lester (Michael Madsen), who will stop at nothing to find the mask.

Nico turns out to be an unlikely hero in this fun action adventure. There's also some talk of the looming 2012, which has become a hot topic.

Many of the locals in the film seem like actual locals, not seasoned actors, lending a certain authenticity and Mexican flavor to the film, which was shot in the beautiful Yucatan.

This is no Indiana Jones, but it's a still an entertaining adventure.

It's certainly worth buying, it's definitely a sleeper to see-- so at least put it on your Netflix list.
