Ben Harper will be raffling off a signed Martin Guitar and a Michael Thiele “Blessed to be a Witness” Tongue drum.
WHY: The festival will benefit The Dorothy and Charles Chase Folk Music and Culture Education Fund (FMCEF), which is a nonprofit education and arts organization dedicated to the advancement, promotion and preservation of traditional, contemporary, and international folk music, instruments and folk culture.
Started by Ben Harper’s grandparents, FMCEF presents concerts, dances, workshops, demonstrations, and educational programs for persons of all ages in Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino counties.
In other words, this festival is a fund-raiser for arts programs in LA, Orange and San Bernadino counties. Given what has happened to the education budget in S. Calif (thank you Governator), there will be a huge drought in that area for years to come if you ( yes — that means YOU) don’t come help out.
WHEN: Saturday, May 3, 2008
WHERE: Sycamore Elementary School, 225 W. 8th Street, Claremont, CA
TICKETS: $50 General admission tickets are available now at www.claremontfolkfestival.org.
