Music Mania: Who's On Tour; Videos, Short Bites of Commentary from Musicians!

AM -- noted for his dates at the Hotel Cafe as well as his own distinctive sound--finished his tour with AIR last night at the Disney Concert Hall in LA and has a few days off (perfect for doing laundry, paying billls and such) before hitting the road again with Charlotte Gainsbourg!!

For Angelenos wanting to catch up to this multi-faceted singer (who I have been trying to nail down for an updated podcast for quite some time -- hint hint) .

"Self Preservation" Official Video

AM's current album, 'Future Sons & Daughters,' pays homage to the Tulsa-born, New Orleans-raised musician's diverse influences which includes Jorge Ben, Brian Wilson, Sergio Mendes and Curtis Mayfield, while showcasing his own songwriting chops, intelligent lyrics and psychedelic grooves. AM's debut, 'Troubled Times,' was declared one of the "Best Albums of the Year," by iTunes and earned him the title of "Best Singer Songwriter of The Year," by LA Weekly.

In case you think life is so terribly hard on the road, here's something that really reflects AM's take on life -- and food-- on the road (and other musicians as well though they aren't there but you know who you are).

From KoffeeHouse here in LA who partnered with Gibson to sponsor LA-based singer/songwriters/musicians at SXSW and also get some bits and soundbytes of their music on video. This is part 1 of a series of different videos that was done at SXSW on the Gibson Bus..

Here's Meiko on the bus singing one of her songs..

I remember when I saw her way back at one of her first gigs at the Anaheim (read Downtown Disney) House of Blues for the close of the Hotel Cafe tour.. which featured so many people that won't ever really play together again on one stage. It was awesome-- and so is Meiko.

Mixing it up is Austin native (or used to be. not sure about now ) is the amazingly talented Guy Forsythe who I have done video interviews with and he's incredibly genius. This is one of his home spots to play and he's just fabulous.

Look for more on SXSW and some of the people who played there.

Thanks to Koffeehouse and Gibson for providing videos for those of us unable to be at SXSW!!
