LA-Story.com: Indie/Alt Musician Holmes Kicks Off 2009 with a Unique Satirical Video !

HOLMES is a musician who has been on the music scene for a while. I have his CD and absolutely adore his riff and rip of the every-day 9-5 existence most of us lead. He's definitely got an attitude and I find it both amusing, satirical and funny. His voice is different and has an edge to it and whether on balladic moments or his more predominent upbeat songs, the topics and/or themes run the gamut.

One of my faves is Stop Go (also the title track of CD #1 ) which is wrapped around a percussive rhythm that is quite different from most things. He's definitely got something to say and there's no hesistation in saying it. It's what keeps me hooked. His music isn't repetitive presentations that just rerun the same sound over and over. Holmes mixes up themes musically and lyrically with a variety of instruments -- particularly piano which seems to be his metier of choice. The honky-tonk-like approach mixes with modern sounds and singing that makes it intriguing to listen to.

This Berklee trained musician moved to NYC and wound up in LA doing a lot of music gigs. You need to listen to the music to wrap your brain around his vibe. He's cool

Here's a new video that Holmes just launched.. You do need a sense of humor and an open mind for it-- but suspend all the judgement and listen to it. He's opnionated and interesting. I find the video to be really saying something while still being funny in a weird twisted way that's reflective of my sense of humor.
