Adventure on Hawaii Part 2--Underwater! Guided Snorkeling Tour Is Killer Fun & Workout!
Part 2 of this 3.5 hour adventure was more challenging-- a LOT more challenging. While we went to a smaller cove, the entry was pretty much rocks and Kailiee gave us expert tips and helped us physically get into the water and how to get our fins out where we couldn't touch bottom. The cove was walking distance from the Lawaii cove so go figure why it would be so different but it was.
The other reason why this was more challenging was really about the current. Typically this cove has a lot of chop and surf and it's not suitable for surfing and snorkeling is only when it's smooth or rather smooth-er. We found the current to be counter to what we wanted to do and it took a lot of strength and endurance to do it.

When we were fully "finned" and snorkeling around, Kailee gave a shout-out of "turtle spotting". Not just one or two but several coming to shore with the high tide to feed on algae.

Sea turtles sit on the bottom for 3-4 hours eating algae because fighting the current requires more air and thus they have to come up.

Sea Turtles are protected in Kauai and people cannot get close enough to touch and must stay a good distance away from this endangered species.

This turtle was truly hidden deep because of the people around and just waiting for us to leave. This is an amazing shot because he was truly the color surrounding him. The sunlight was going fast due to clouds so I was lucky to snag this shot.

The last swimming sea turtle was heading to get food and we just watched him go. It was definitely interesting to see 5 turtles
What was going on at the surface made it hard for all of us to stay together. The clouds moving in took away what light we had and the warmth of the sun. We were working perpendicular to the current so we were struggling to circle the cove. I had some trouble because I was so cold. Kailee told me it was because I wasn't moving as much as I had been on the other cove. (more fish and lots more to see kept you moving) This cove made it hard to move because I was fighting to stay in with the group and move to the other side.
It's COLD when you get out of the water. Despite having a wet suit on, I was tired, shivering and a bit off balance.

I was definitely not pleased to see this photo on the roll but then again, it is what it is. Me exhausted, cold and tired. (I hate being cold). The worst part was trying to get the wet suit off because it was cold and heavy. (thankfully those photos aren't showing up here)
If you are in Kauai, I highly recommend this tour. I recommend you ask for Kailee. She's amazing!! Extremely knowledgeable and helpful to any and everyone, you would have a great experience and any other snorkeling event --other than the Napili Coast would be so much less meaningful
